Christina Mesk is a 12:1, Special Education Teacher for 5th Graders in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.  She has been a New York City Public School Teacher for 19 years at PS 1K, The School of Leadership & Creativity.

In July 2019 she was awarded a Fulbright For Global Classrooms Fellowship from  The U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.  Mesk is one of approximately 76 U.S. citizens who traveled abroad through the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program in 2022. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.   Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms is a year-long professional development opportunity for U.S. elementary, middle, and high school teachers to develop skills for preparing students for a competitive global economy. Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms equips teachers to bring an international perspective to their schools through targeted training, experience abroad, and global collaboration.

Christina is an alum of the Transatlantic Educators Dialogue (Class of 2023).  The Transatlantic Educators Dialogue (TED) Program is a one of a kind opportunity for educators in the United States and Europe to come together online for shared exploration and examination of a variety of educational topics, such as global collaboration, supporting diverse learning needs, parental involvement, and technology in the classroom.

In June 2023, Christina was given a Big Apple Award for Teaching Excellence from the NYC Department of Education.  The Big Apple Awards is a citywide recognition program celebrating New York City public school teachers who were selected from more than 1,000 nominations, and vetted by district leaders and principals. This year's award includes a programmatic expansion that features an ongoing professional learning experience where these highly regarded teachers will have multiple opportunities to share their best teaching practices and resources across the NYC Public School system.

When Christina is not teaching she enjoys running, biking, traveling and exploring history and literature.  She is a member of the Young Members Advisory Board at the New-York Historical Society.
